Foods for a healthy body and mind

We sometimes that think that being healthy is just good in managing weight loss, but it is much more than that. It can help against anxiety, stress, and fatigue. It can improve your gut health and sleep patterns as well as just your general wellbeing.

Below I have listed a few simple ideas on how you can transition to  healthier habits:

-          Filtered water – aim to have 2 litres per day (this can include herbal teas)

-          Avoid artificial sweeteners and have a minimal amount of sugar

-          A varied weekly option of foods but try to include:

o   Protein with all meals

o   Oily fish

o   A rainbow of vegetables, especially the leafy greens

o   Berries- blueberries, strawberries, raspberries….

o   A small handful of plain nuts every day

-          The following foods, which are tryptophan rich, will help improve your mood:

o   Cherries

o   Strawberries

o   Whole oats

o   Nuts

o   Poultry

-          Finally, we all like a treat…dark chocolate!

Managing your diet and being kind to yourself is the first step to building your foundation to a healthier body and mind.
